UN calls for global cooperation to avoid a race to the bottom on AI safety

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres urged governments, companies, scientists and civil society to coordinate on artificial-intelligence safety.

National rules remain important, he said, but cannot fully govern a technology that crosses borders and economic systems.
